Reality, or lack thereof

So first of all, let me say thank you for joining me here. I hope that my daily rantings, observations, and thoughts will entertain and inform. Let me apologize in advance if I upset anyone, as I do have a very "tell it like I see it" attitude.
I am married to an incredible woman, with an even more incredible name, Athena. Some of you will recognize this as the name of the Greek goddess of wisdom and war. Not sure about the wisdom part, but war is right on! lol, I can say this because she's asleep right now. She works very hard, and when shes not working or spending time with our awesome little 7 yr old son, she loves to watch reality tv. Granted, she knows most of them are 90% fake or scripted, she still loves to watch (that didn't sound right). It is a favorite past time of mine to watch them with her, laughing and poking fun along the way. I discovered a funny statistic today though, and had an interesting thought. Apparently, the 2 most popular types of reality shows are cooking/weight loss. So essentially, the tv networks are fattening up the contestants of these shows (of whom most have made being a contestant their career) so that they may exploit their obesity. I personally blame "The Real World", simply b/c they're the first show of this type I can remember. Thanks alot MTV, you paved the way for Survivor, Rock of Love, Tool Academy, and countless other mind-numbing shows. What cracks me up is that they have given up being original, and now just hire contestants who didn't make the cut from other steaming piles of tv. Long story short, I hope and pray that at some point, hopefully soon, this trend will end and we can go back to real tv. If not, I'll be forced to put my idea for a reality show in front of the networks. Since anything is entertaining these days, I think I;ll make a show of me sitting on the toilet, and call it "Who Gives a Crap!"
